The up-coming Trans media assignment brought up a nostalgic feel, as it is similar to an assignment that I completed in year eleven at Parade College in my Media class. Back then we had studied the newly released Prometheus campaign as the film was released that year, the campaign involved TED talk and David the robot marking videos that were created in order to relate to the film. Many other uses of trans media were used in this campaign yet it is vague in my mind at this moment but this helped our class gain inspiration for our own projects.
My inspiration for this subject included one of my favorite genres, the Zombie film, after viewing the films 28 Weeks later and 28 Days later I gained a strong interest of the themes included within zombie movies. The first step I used in my trans media assignment was to create a flow of events to market my zombie film to the public, one of the main events within my marketing scheme was the creation of a website in Photoshop where the public was directed to, every view of the site would help towards the creation of a video link, once a certain amount of views were obtained the video which was the film trailer could be seen on the site by the public. Using Song Vegas I created a Zombie trailer using footage from a professional quality fan made Zombie film and followed all codes and conventions shown in these trailers, for example the beginning of the trailer showed the bare scenery of a country while towards the end the music climaxed as I placed footage of the solders fighting the zombie horde.
I presented this project to my year 11 media class in a PowerPoint presentation and I received a very high mark for the effort I placed in this assignment by my teacher. For the trans media assignment for network culture I want to produce something similar, for example produce some pieces in Photoshop then create a film trailer to finish it off, I want to keep it simple rather than overly complex. In conclusion I want to mention that projects like thee that allow me to create films and pieces from programs such as Photoshop interest me and is the main reason why I choose this course at La Trobe, this allows me to create something from nothing and give a sense of enjoyment and pride once the finished piece is complete.
